  • Status and progress of peripheral interventions via trans-radial access

Trans-radial access (TRA) has been a common approach to percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Comparing with trans-femoral access (TFA), TRA is used as an alternative approach for PCI with less local complications, higher comfort level, and better outcome. In recent years, TRA has been paid more and more attention in peripheral vascular interventions. We reviewed recent developments in peripheral vascular intervention using TRA, with detail summary of the effectiveness, safety, limits, and future developments of it, aiming to improve the understanding and performance of TRA in interventionalists to benefit patients.

  • Research progress on the role mechanism of gut flora in postoperative delirium and its prevention strategy

Postoperative delirium (POD) is a common postoperative complication. Dysregulation of gut flora is involved in POD through mechanisms such as neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, deposition of β-amyloid (Aβ), and aberrant production of metabolites of gut flora. Therefore, interventions to regulate gut flora, such as probiotics, prebiotics, and faecal microbiota transplantation, can alleviate cognitive dysfunction. This article reviews the mechanisms of gut flora in POD and its prevention and treatment strategies, with the aim of providing new ideas for the clinical prevention and treatment of POD.
