Objective To analyze the epidemiological features of clavicle fractures. Methods A total of 363 cases of clavicle fractures were treated from February 1993 to November 2002, their case history data were reviewed and evaluated by epidemiological method. Results Out of 363 cases, there were 269 males and 94 females, aged from new born to 96 years. The locations of fractures were on left side in 159 cases and on right side in 204 cases. Neonatal clavicle fracture occurred in the case of delivery (0.28%). The causes of disease for adult clavicle fractures were traffic injury (52.1%) and daily falling injury(31.1%). There were232 cases of simple fractures and 131 cases of comminuted fractures. The fracture positions included inner(6 cases), middle(328 cases) and outer parts(29 cases). Multiinjuries occurred in 78 cases, the rib fractures concomitant with clavicle fractures were the commonest(31 cases). Conclusion The clavicle fractures are the common injury. Of them, traffic injury and daily falling injury arethe most common. The rib fractures are always accompanied with clavicle fractures. The main position of fracture is on the middle part.
ObjectiveTo investigate the status quo of emergency resources in all township hospitals in a county of Aba Autonomous Region. MethodWe set up a uniform electronic version questionnaire between April 15th and 18th, 2015. The leaders of township hospitals filled in their information and uploaded the data including emergency medical services, human resources, medical device and technology application situation. Then, the data were statistically analyzed. ResultsFor these township hospitals, the service population was 2 206.05±846.95, the service radius was (25.5±14.3) km. The number of registered doctors per 1 000 people of resident population was 1.52, the number of registered nurses per 1 000 people of resident population was 0.47, and the number of hospital beds per 1 000 people of resident population was 1.69. The staff in all township hospitals included 74 doctors and 23 nurses. The constitution of positional titles and academic qualifications of doctors and nurses in these township hospitals was not significantly different (P>0.05). All township hospitals had a total of six ambulances, one of which was ambulance for rescue and monitoring, and the others were ordinary ambulances. The devices equipped in the ambulances and hospitals were not sufficient, and most doctors and nurses could only perform surrounding vein puncture, and debridement and suture surgery. They could not recue critically ill patients alone. ConclusionsFor these township hospitals, the service radius is too long, the number of doctors and nurses is too small, and the ability of service is insufficient. In order to meet the demand of emergency resources in ethnic areas as far as possible, we should increase investment and promote medical devices, increase the number of doctors and nurses, improve the personnel structure, and strengthen professional training.
ObjectiveTo understand variations in clinical epidemiology of lung cancer and to help with early accurate diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer.MethodsThis research was based on the Lung Cancer Database of West China Hospital of Sichuan University. Clinicopathological data of inpatients with primary lung cancer from 2011 to 2018 was collected for analysis. Information regarding sex, age, smoking history, surgical resection modalities, TNM stage of tumor, and pathological subtypes was included.ResultsA total of 23 228 inpatients with primary lung cancer were included in this research. There were 1 932, 2 029, 2 162, 2 773, 2 975, 3 318, 3 993, and 4 046 patients in every single year from 2011 to 2018, respectively. The male-to-female ratio of patients had changed significantly from 2.00∶1 in 2011 to 1.34∶1 in 2018 (P<0.001). Statistically significant difference was found in age distribution of patients in different years, while elderly always accounted for the majority of all patients. More nonsmokers were among the group of lung cancer patients, the proportion of whom rose from 41.61% in 2011 to 52.47% in 2018 (P<0.001). The proportion of adenocarcinoma in all subtypes rose from 54.04% in 2011 to 71.73% in 2018, while the proportion of squamous carcinoma dropped from 29.04% to 17.67% simultaneously. From 2011 to 2018, the proportion of stage Ⅰ lung cancer rose from 15.68% to 40.79%. Patients with stage ⅠA1 accounted for 11.82% in 2018. In 2018, 60.78% of stage ⅠA patients had gone through surgical resection modalities, forming a stark contrast with the fact that only 26.48% of stage ⅠA patients adopted surgeries in 2011.ConclusionsFrom 2011 to 2018, the total number of lung cancer patients increased year by year. The proportions of female patients and nonsmokers rose significantly. Adenocarcinoma accounted for the highest proportion of all subtypes, followed by squamous cell carcinoma. There were more patients with early lung cancer and less with advanced lung cancer diagnosed, implying a gradual accumulation of weight on the early stages according to the TNM classification of lung cancer.
Objective To investigate and discuss the prevalence and the relevant risk factors of bronchial asthma in Shenzhen city China. Methods We used standard scheme and questionnaire, and performed stratified-cluster-disproportional-random-sampling survey for the population of five communities. Results A total of 6 248 people were surveyed. 50.5% (3 156 of 6 248) of whom were men and 49.5% (3 092 of 6 248) were women. In this survey, forty asthma patients were found, and the overall prevalence rate was 0.64%, three groups with higher prevalence were 66 to 75 years (54‰), 56 to 65 years (23‰) and 14 to 17 years (12‰) respectively. Risk factors found that among 40 asthma patients, people often exposed to secondhand smoking were reported by 40% and children exposed to their father’s smoking from fetus were reported by 57%. People with asthma with allergic rhinitis were reported by 50%. The attacks were caused by common cold and changing temperature or inhaling cold air were 45% and 30% respectively. About 86% of children suffered from asthma before 2 years old. Conclusion This survey has basically reflected the distribution, frequency and intensity of asthma. The overall prevalence rate is 0.64% from which it would be estimated that there could be 25 900 asthma patients in Shenzhen city, the relavent data will provide basis for the future research, mass prevention and the treatment of asthma.
Heart and kidney interact with each other. Cardio-renal syndrome (CRS) refers to conditions where acute or chronic dysfunction of either the heart or the kidney leads to dysfunction of the other. Conventional classification of CRS outlined five subgroups according to the clinical presentation. This review focused on the epidemiology, new bio- markers, drug management, and renal replacement therapy of type Ⅰ and type Ⅱ CRS, which emphasized the multi-discipline collaboration and individualized evaluation, in order to achieve goal-directed approach to renal replacement therapy.
Cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) is commonly used to treat arrhythmias. The amount of CIED implantation has increased year by year since its first application in 1958. At the same time, the CIED infection rate also increases significantly. Although the infection rate is very low for the primary implantation, the consequences of CIED infection are serious, and it is often necessary to remove the equipment for treatment. The mortality rate in patients with CIED infections is high, and the economic burden is huge. In this paper, the epidemiology, pathogenesis and pathogen, manifestations and diagnosis, risk factors, treatment and preventive measures of CIED infection were systematically described based on the recently published guidelines and international consensus literature, so as to provide theoretical guidance for the prevention of CIED infections.
ObjectiveTo study the epidemiologic characteristics of primary liver cancer (PLC). MethodsThe literatures about regional distribution and etiologic epidemiology of PLC were reviewed. Results PLC was mainly distributed on caostland in the south-east of China. The main cause of PLC was hepatitis B virus, aflatoxin and contamination of drinking water. Otherwise, PLS was also related with lack of some trace element, sex horemones, genealogy cause and so on.Conclusion The genesis of PLC was by multiple factors.
ObjectiveTo explore the epidemiological and clinical features of hepatic hemangioma. MethodsThe clinical data of patients with hepatic hemangioma who were diagnosed in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from 2003 to 2011 were retrospectively analyzed, and then analyzed the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of hepatic hemangioma. ResultsEight hundreds and eighteen patients with hepatic hemangioma were included in the study.Among them, 398 cases (48.7%) were male, 420 cases (51.3%) were female, and there were no significant differences in constitute of gender for each year (χ2=9.912, P=0.271), but there were significant differences in constitute of gender between different age groups (χ2=18.791, P=0.000 1), male patients were more than female in the group of aged over 60 years old. There was no special clinical manifestations of hepatic hemangioma. There were 75 patients (9.2%) combined autoimmune diseases in this group. The size of hepatic hemangioma ranged from 0.5-39.0 cm, the median diameter was 3.0 cm.There were significant differences between different gender, the tumor size of female patients were larger than male's (P < 0.05).The tumor happened mostly in the right hepatic lobe (57.2%), and there were no significant differences of the tumor location in different gender (P > 0.05).Hepatic hemangioma with a single lesion was most common (70.0%), and the right lobe lesions were more common than the left lobe lesions in single lesion group, multiple lesions in double lobes were most common in multiple lesion group. ConclusionsHepatic hemangioma has a certain distribution pattern in gender, age, size, position, and so on, further research in prevention and controlled strategy need to be carried out in the future. At the same time, more in-depth research in the related factors participated in occurrence and development of hepatic hemangioma also need to be carried out, especially for the relationship between gender, age, autoimmune diseases, and hepatic hemangioma, which is worthy to be discussed.
Objective To explore the characteristics of diagnosis and treatment for the rectal cancer in the young patients (≤40 years). Methods The domestic and abroad literatures about the research on the progress of rectal cancer in the young patients were reviewed, the clinical data of patients with rectal cancer were compared between the young patients and the other age patients, the characteristics of diagnosis and treatment for the rectal cancer in the young patients were summarized. Results The onsets of the young patients with rectal cancer were related to the diet, lifestyle, and genetic factors.Compared with the older patients, more later stage, higher percentage of poor differentiation, earlier lymph node metastasis were found in the young patients with rectal cancer.Rectal cancer of the young patients was often misdiagnosed and with a poor prognosis.Currently, surgery assisted with neoadjuvant therapy was generally acknowledged as a better method. Conclusions It has specificity in epidemiology, pathology, treatment, prognosis, and so on for rectal cancer in the young patients, but surgery needs further research.
