  • RESEARCH ADVANCE IN REPAIR OF PERIPHERAL NERVE DEFECT WITH ACELLULAR NERVE ALLOGRAFT

Objective To investigate the research advance in repair of the peripheral nerve defect with an acellular nerve allograft. Methods The recent related literature was extensively and comprehensively reviewed. The methods and the effects of the allografts with acellular nerves were analyzed. Results The immunogenicity of the allograft was more significantly relieved by the chemical treatment than by the physicaltreatment. The effect of the chemical treatment on the axon regeneration was better than that of the physical treatment. Conclusion Because of the limitation of the host Schwann cell translation in the longsegment acellular nerve allografts, the effect of Schwann cells is not satisfactory and regeneration of the nerve is limited. So, the recellularized treatment with some related measures can enhance the host Schwann cell translation so that this problem can be solved. 

  • Biological Characteristics of Decellularized Bovine Jugular Vein Valved Conduit Treated with Dyemediated Photo Oxidation

Abstract: Objective To evaluate the biological characteristics of decellularized bovine jugular vein valved conduit treated with dyemediated photo oxidation. Methods From July 2009 to July 2010, this study was carried out in Xijing Hospital affiliated to the Fourth Military Medical University. Forty bovine jugular vein valved conduits were obtained from Qinchuan scalpers aged between 2 to 6 years with the weight ranged from 200 to 400 kg. Then, the 40 conduits were divided into four groups by random digital table with 10 in each group. The conduits were treated with glutaraldehyde in the glutaraldehyde group (GA group), were decellularized in the decellularized group (DC group), were decellularized and treated with dyemediated photo oxidation in the decellularized and dyemediated photo oxidation treated group (DP group) , and were not dealt with in the control group (CO group). Thickness, appearance, histology, water content, shrinkage temperature, breaking strength, and soluble protein level of the conduit wall and valve were detected and compared among the four groups. Results Thickness and water content of the conduit wall and valve in the DP group were similar to those in the CO group (Pgt;0.05), while thickness of both wall and valve in the DP group was less than those in the GA group (wall: 0.8±0.1 mm vs. 1.1±0.1 mm; valve: 02±0.1 mm vs. 0.3±0.1 mm, Plt;0.05), and water content of the conduit wall and valve in the DP group was more than those in the GA group (wall: 86.1%±2.2% vs. 70.4%±2.8%; valve: 87.1%±2.5% vs. 72.1%±3.1%, Plt;0.05). The breaking strength and shrinkage temperature of the DP group were similar to those of the GA group (Pgt;0.05), while the shrinkage temperature (wall: 84.7±1.4 ℃ vs. 70.4±0.3 ℃; valve: 85.7±1.5 ℃ vs. 70.7±0.6 ℃, Plt;0.05) and the breaking strength (wall: 10.4±1.1 N vs. 6.8±1.0 N; valve: 8.0±0.9 N vs. 3.2±0.6 N, Plt;0.05) of the DP group were higher than those in the CO group. Conclusion Decellularized bovine jugular vein valved conduits treated with dyemediated photo oxidation have nice biological characteristics.Key words: Dyemediated photo oxidation; Decellularized; Bovine jugular vein valved conduit; Biological characteristics

  • Analysis of research hotspots and trends in core outcome set from 2015 to 2024

ObjectiveTo analyze the research hotspots and development trends of core outcome set (COS) from 2015 to 2024, providing a reference for future research in this field. MethodsWe retrieved literature on COS research from the Web of Science Core Collection and CNKI spanning January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2024. We extracted and organized data on the number of publications, journals, citation frequency, and keywords using Excel 2021. We performed keyword clustering analysis using VOSviewer 1.6.13 and generated strategic coordinate maps using Bibliometrix 3.13 in R 4.3.1. ResultsWe included a total of 1 288 studies, comprising 1 085 English publications and 203 Chinese publications. From 2015 to 2024, the number of COS publications showed a steady increase. English journals covered a wide range of fields, while Chinese journals were mainly focused on traditional Chinese medicine. High-impact articles primarily focused on COS methodology. Chinese literature mainly concentrated on the application of COS in traditional Chinese medicine, while English literature focused on child health, Delphi surveys, quality of life, and pain. The results of the strategic coordinate map showed that research on acupuncture core outcome indicators, qualitative studies of surgical COS, and Delphi-based COS for quality of life in patients with rheumatoid diseases were relatively weak, with significant room for improvement. ConclusionOver the past decade, COS research has shown a steady growth trend and has gradually become an important tool for improving the standardization and scientific rigor of clinical research. As COS research continues to expand, there is increasing overlap in the scope and findings of different studies. Future research could incorporate umbrella and basket study designs to optimize resource utilization and promote the application of COS in clinical practice.
